The Doctor
Obstetrician – Gynecologist Dimitris Koleskas was born in Athens and grew up in Larissa.
In 2007 he obtained the medical specialty title in Obstetrics – Gynecology after examinations at Aretaieio Hospital, Athens, and became an official member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom (M.R.C.O.G. - Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) after examinations (MRCOG certification).
In the same year he became a member of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (B.S.C.C.P. - British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology), having successfully completed his subspecialty training in colposcopy and achieving the highest score in the relevant national examinations, for which he was awarded a distinction.
In 2008 he specialized in the management of high-risk obstetric cases at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, and was awarded the relevant certification by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (Advanced Labour Ward Practice, R.C.O.G.).
In 2009 he specialized in advanced laparoscopy at Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, where he performed a large number of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures such as hysterectomies, fibroid removal, ovarian cyst excision, adhesiolysis and radical excision of endometriosis. Certification from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom: Benign Gynaecological Surgery: Laparoscopy, R.C.O.G.
In 2010 he specialized in the investigation and treatment of infertile couples and reproductive endocrinology at Newcastle Fertility Centre for Life. During his specialization he performed a large number of infertility treatments and reproductive laparoscopic surgeries. At the same time, he emphasized the psychological support of couples in collaboration with the team psychologist. Certification from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom: Sub-fertility and Reproductive Endocrinology, R.C.O.G.
In the same year he obtained the position of Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, and developed significant educational and clinical activity in the following areas:
- Laparoscopic surgery for benign gynecological diseases and early-stage endometrial cancer.
- Investigation and treatment of menstrual disorders.
- Transvaginal ultrasound: Head of the gynecological ultrasound department and trainer of Obstetrics and Gynecology residents.
- Operative hysteroscopy under local and general anesthesia.
In 2011 he returned to Athens, where he established his private medical practice in the center of Athens (41 Dim. Soutsou Street, Athens 11521) with the aim of offering his knowledge and experience to Greek women.
He is a certified physician – following a relevant decision of the Ministry of Health – authorized to perform and issue reports for gynecological (transvaginal/abdominal) and obstetric ultrasound examinations.
He collaborates with the private gynecological clinic Athens Mediclinic and the maternity hospitals IASO, Leto, Mitera, and Rea.
He is a member of the robotic surgery team at Euroclinic of Athens.
Since 2011 he has been responsible for infertility treatments at the assisted reproduction unit “Biogenetic”. The center provides all assisted reproduction treatments, placing emphasis on the uniqueness of each couple and on excellent communication throughout the treatment process.
He is a member of the medical network of Medisystem (Interamerican health program).
In July 2011, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom, recognizing the doctor’s experience in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, honored him by including him in the International Advisory Board of the College’s official journal “The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist” (TOG) as a reviewer responsible for evaluating relevant articles for publication.
